Formula

Gap = your bank rate ÷ that day’s central parity − 1stored to 6 decimals, shown as a percentage to 2
Today’s estimated bank rate = today’s central parity × (1 + gap)rounded to 4 decimals and marked “Estimate”; once that day’s bank rate is entered, it is no longer estimated
RMB you receive = amount × bank rate2 decimal places; for a currency quoted per 100 units (JPY and others), the rate is divided by 100 first
Difference from central parity = amount × (central parity − bank rate)the amounts at the central parity and at the bank rate are each rounded to 2 decimal places, then subtracted
Not covered
  • This site shows only the RMB central parity published by the People’s Bank of China and does not republish bank rates. Banks pay their own spot buying rate, usually a little below central parity: enter your bank rate once and it is estimated each day from the gap.
  • An estimate is not your bank’s quote: a bank can change its gap to central parity at any time, and when you actually convert, the rate your bank gives you then is what counts.
  • One currency is converted at a time. Bank fees are not included; for a year’s conversion cost, use the FX conversion cost calculator.

Worked example

Enter your bank rate once; the next day it is estimated from the gap (example data):

Your bank rate, entered6.7350CNY 67,350.00

Day two: central parity6.7571CNY 67,571.00
Day two: your bank rate, estimated6.7421CNY 67,421.00

The gap is worked to six decimal places (−0.2222%) and shown as −0.22%; a rate pasted per 100 units is converted to per 1.

FAQ

What does Settlement exchange rate: South Korean won (KRW) give for an example?
Example: Currency: KRW, Foreign currency amount: 10000, At central parity: CNY 49.96 (at the 2026-10-09 central parity rate).
Why not show the bank’s rates directly?
This site shows only the RMB central parity published by the People’s Bank of China and does not republish bank rates. You enter your bank rate once; the site remembers its gap to central parity and estimates it each day from that gap.
How accurate is the estimate?
Bank rates move with central parity each day and the gap is usually fairly stable, but a bank can change it at any time. When you actually convert, the rate your bank gives you then is what counts; enter that day’s rate and it is no longer estimated.
Where is the bank rate I enter kept?
Only on this device: it is not in the address and is never uploaded. Tap “Clear” to delete it.
Why are the yen, won, ruble and forint shown per 100?
1 unit of these currencies is worth less than CNY 0.1, so showing them per 1 would need many decimals. Per 100, 4 decimals stay precise. Other currencies are shown per 1, with the unit always written next to the figure.
Why do some currencies say “CNY 1 = …”?
The People’s Bank of China announces these currencies as “CNY 1 buys so many units”. The site converts them to yuan per unit so they multiply directly, and also lists the announced form so you can check it.
Why is RMB written as CNY here, not with a symbol?
The Japanese yen uses the same symbol as the yuan. On the exchange rate pages, RMB is always written as CNY so the two can’t be confused.
